UPDATE: They had to reverse course! Seems we the people might have a little power left after all! But keep your head on a swivel. This kind of thing can keep happening. Gut instinct is this was just a dry run.

You remember how this started with speech and deplatforming… It escalates and definitions of “hate speech” and “misinformation” and “terrorist” get loosy goosy until they apply to anyone that someone with a little power wants to bully.

It’s one thing for a private business to have freedom of association. This is something else. This is monopoly powers colluding with government pressure until its not just one private business unbanking you, its all of them. This is fascism. But because its Chase Bank doing it - probably at the urging of government actors - you can cry freedom of association. This is not a “bake the damn cake” moment; this is going to build to a situation where there eventually is no cake for you at all anywhere. Except its banks instead of cakes.

I shudder to ask, but… are there banks that are not embarrassed by their conservative clients? Their unvaccinated clients? Their Christian clients? Their clients like YOU?

My lord, are we going to need parallel EVERYTHING eventually?
